Arriving in a limousine. Strolling the red carpet. Popcorn. An assortment of movie candy. These were just a few of the creative and fun luxuries that guests and award winners got to enjoy at the 2007 Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award Ceremony at the Historic Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa on Thursday, November 15, 2007.
The Neighborhood Builders program is designed to strengthen the capacity of selected nonprofit groups and to promote the professional development of their leaders. The POINT will be invited to send a senior executive and emerging leaders to participate in specially, designed workshops that will focus on developing management skills, forging alliances and building communities.
This project will not only create numerous economic development opportunities within the neighborhood, but will also create sustainability for the POINT allowing the organization to focus on meeting the resident’s priorities and needs.
“The Neighborhood Builder Award represents an acknowledgment and recognition our organization’s work for the betterment of Palm River, said Executive Director, Liz Gutierrez. It will be the catalyst for greater investments in the community that includes the establishment of a community facility that will house programs to serve Palm River residents and businesses. We can’t wait to get started!”
