 On, Friday, November 2nd, the POINT held a celebration to highlight the POINT’s successes over the last ten years and to recognize and thank it’s partners, funders, government officials, program participants and residents for their support and involvement. Residents and POINT partners entered the banquet hall to find hundreds of candles lit up with the POINT logo and beautiful sunflowers adorned at each table. Once seated, the program began with a Go
4 Kids children’s parade where kids dressed up as doctors, lawyers, dancers, etc. and described what they wanted to be when they grow up. The kids then presented “Thank You” certificates to their parents to show their appreciation!
“The event brought together 250 attendees, so it was a big success by all accounts, said Liz Gutierrez, Executive Director. The program and speeches were poignant and touched many in the audience with a sense of pride. In year eleven, where it is right now, I think we’re all touched and blown away with the way the community has supported this event!”
Other highlights included the awards portion of the program where several Community Leadership Awards were handed out to leaders and organizations that have made a significant contribution to advance the creative spirit, diversity and vitality of Palm River. Winners included Pedro Parra from The Planning Commission, Palm River resident Natalie Transue, Youth leader Benjamin Burk, the National Debt Foundation and TECO.
At the conclusion of the program, attendees stayed around to take family portraits at the Go
4 Kids photo booth, to visit and receive information at the POINT booths and to enjoy some dancing!
