Palm River 1st

Palm River 1st is an Initiative to engage, inform and educate residents about the ongoing community planning process.

Like other communities in Hillsborough County, the Palm River neighborhood is in now developing a plan for the redevelopment of Palm River. The planning process, led by Pedro Parra, Neighborhood Planner with the Hillsborough County Planning Commission will be the most important way for neighborhood residents, businesses owners and others to make an impact in the improvement of the social, physical and economic environment of the neighborhood for many years to come.

Palm River 1st Activities and Events

The successful development of a Community Plan in Palm River depends on the participation of residents and stakeholders, like YOU!

• Participate in the Neighborhood Plan ADVISORY COMMITTEE. This committee will work alongside the Planning Commission and County Leaders to provide input for the Palm River Community Plan. The Advisory Committee will develop a written plan of action that will tell the Hillsborough County Commissioners how to make decisions on our community’s behalf with regards to development and the funding of capital improvement projects among others.
• Run by the Planning Commission, attend monthly Meetings and Workshops to provide important feedback for recommended guidelines such as Vision, Plan, Land Use Regulations, Education and more.
• Host a neighborhood Circle (small, group meeting) at your homes so your neighbors can gather to discuss their experiences, concerns and interests about the future development in Palm River.
• In 2006, The POINT launched the PR1 Youth Corp., a Community Mapping program for kids ages 12-15. During the 8-week program, youth had the opportunity to earn extra money, identify resources in Palm River and participate in planning for the revitalization of their Community.

Turn on the Water! Campaign Facts

The goal is for local officials (Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, Florida Department of Transportation) work together to find a solution so that water lines can be installed along Causeway Boulevard during the Causeway Blvd. Roadway Improvement Project. Post Cards Campaign

Our Palm River 1st Postcard Campaign Series, was a campaign designed to get residents informed and involved in the 2006 community planning process! We produced a series of beautiful postcards featuring the people and places of Palm River. We made the beautifully designed postcards, in English and Spanish, showcasing Greater Palm River people and places.
