Family Asset Building

Family Asset Building is a unique economic development strategy to promote the educational advancement and build the social capital of Palm River residents.
The POINT helps families build their assets through basic skills, savings, and money management programs for adults.

Program instructors are local professionals from Hillsborough Community College and community members who design and implement a challenging yet flexible curriculum and build strong and healthy relationships with and among their program participants. Our programs are offered at The POINT's office.

Job Certification/Adult Education (JC/AE) and Women’s Investment Network (WIN) are a key part of the POINT’s Family Asset Building Department.

Job Certification/Adult Education (JC/AE)

POINT’s New Career Training Program! Through a new POINT partnership with Hillsborough Community College and with the funding support of the United Way of Tampa Bay, The POINT is pleased to announce a new career training program exclusively for Palm River residents.

If you are interested in expanding your employment opportunities and if you are committed to making Palm River a better place to live – we want to talk to you. Women’s Investment Network (WIN)

WIN participants meet on a monthly basis to learn set goals and budgeting, maintain their savings and checking accounts, and get financial and moral support from the POINT staff and other women in the WIN program.

In addition to the financial workshops and one-on-one sessions with a financial coach, the participants must put a certain amount of money aside every month for a savings match. With the additional monies, participants can set it aside to pay for continuing education or even a future home. Click here to read more about our Women's Investment Network.
