About Us

About Us

Greater Palm River POINT, CDC (or “POINT”) is a neighborhood based not-for-profit [501 (c)(3)] organization led by a 15 member board whose overall mission is to improve the quality of life of the Palm River community by investing in people and investing in the revitalization of the community. Created in 1996 through an initiative by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, POINT has involved hundreds of residents and stakeholders in the process of making Palm River a better place to live.

From its very inception, POINT has supported and provided programs that have impacted individual residents as well as the entire community. We have been a powerful force in bringing needed improvements to the Community. Most recently for example, our organization in collaboration with residents challenged the Board of County Commissioners to approve a $6.5 Million investment for the improvement of one of the community’s most important roadways, Causeway Boulevard. That infrastructure investment will continue to be the catalyst for important economic opportunities. In addition, POINT has invested in four acres of property in a prime location of Palm River (Causeway Boulevard and 78th Street) with the goal of having the POINT, several key social service agencies and a financial institution housed on this property.
